This is why it's so hard for me to watch anime anymore. Then, after the quest is over he derides you for assuming anything untoward was going on, and at the end of chapter two decided to *become* a muscle dude, basically saying "No Homo." The guy who tells you to build the bedroom tells you that the guys need a place to 'rub each other down' and the guy who tells you to build the windowed shower is clearly gay-coded in the story beats leading up to that, as he's one of the few non-muscle dudes, demonstrated an infatuation with them, and expresses several times during the quests that he has feminine sensibilities. But by the same coin, those moments seem to be played as jokes rather than taken seriously, which is even worse.

Honestly, the low-key homo-eroticism in a few of the quests like the shower quest and the one where the muscle-guy tells you to build that private bedroom seem to be deliberately there in some DQ games in order to undermine the creepy infatuation with the women.

(it's.well.a breast thing, let's just say that) (as if to say that the two go hand in hand) And that's not even getting into the whole Puff Puff thing, which is essentially toned-down prostitution in DQ XI. There are towns in most of the modern games occupied mostly by Muscle Bros and Bunny Girls. Part of the problem is that this is kind of a long running theme in DQ games. For instance, the dirty magazine in a later story beat was changed to a 'blue print' in the english version. Worse, considering how DQ games tend to be localized, I'd not be surprised at all if they actually toned it down for the english release. Babs openly appears to be enjoying the attention, but that doesn't excuse what, in any other scenario, would be clear sexual objectification. Now it should be noted that it's not *presented* as creepy. We get it, all the straight guys like her, Not every moment of the plot has to revolve around it.
